In March, Google unveiled its AI chatbot, Bard, to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which has been gaining attention for its remarkable progress in responding to prompts in natural language with human-like answers.
Since its launch, Bard has piqued the interest of many tech enthusiasts, and comparisons with ChatGPT are inevitable.
However, Google has equipped Bard with numerous features to enhance the user experience and threaten the dominance of ChatGPT.
On May 10, at the developers’ conference, Google made Bard available in over 180 countries and introduced a slew of upgrades to ensure that it stays ahead of the curve. Bard is accessible for free at https://bard.google.com/.
1. Available on your smartphone.
Perhaps, the most significant disadvantage of ChatGPT could be accessibility, as it does not have a mobile version, at least not yet.
Although several users have been using ChatGPT via smartphone browsers, a dedicated application comes with the best of convenience.
While Google Bard is not coming to your smartphone, the search giant plans to integrate the chatbot into more Google apps and services, making them accessible to smartphone users.
2. Power of Internet.
By default, ChatGPT does not provide access to the internet, and to use the internet, one might require access to the web-browsing feature.
On the other hand, Google Bard comes with internet access, which gives it an edge over its OpenAI counterpart.
3. Prompt using images
This is perhaps the most standout feature of Bard. Users can use images as prompts or even scan images via Google Lens to do the same.
For instance, a user stuck with craft materials without knowing how to use them can click a picture and ask Bard what to do.
4.Export results to Gmail and Docs
This feature will be an effective way to share results from Google Bard with friends and coworkers. Under every response, users can see the like, dislike, and share buttons. The share button will have Export To Docs and Drafts options in Gmail.
5.Voice prompts
ChatGPT is far from image and voice prompts, but Google’s Bard seems to offer these to its users. Using voice to give prompts can be a convenient way to get responses while multitasking.
