The actress, producer and entrepreneur will make her first appearance in the role at the upcoming Gucci Cruise 2024 Runway Show in Seoul. It will be staged at the city’s Gyeongbokgung Palace on Tuesday. The event will also mark the fashion house’s 25 years in the country.
By being a Gucci Ambassador, Bhatt joins a pool of international personalities, including Hanni, a lead singer of Korean band NewJeans; “Squid Game” star Lee Jung-Jae and fellow South Korean actress Mina Shin, as well as Japanese talent Jun Shison. Other Gucci faces include Dakota Johnson, Julia Garner, A$AP Rocky, Elliot Page, Halle Bailey and Liu Wen.
Alia has been an advocate for self-expression and inclusivity in contemporary society. Perhaps these values played a key in acquiring the role at Gucci. Alia’s beliefs seem to align with Gucci’s vision and values – which again advocate for an inclusive, open, and fair community.
The actress also made her Met Gala debut this year. She attended the fashion’s biggest night in a dreamy pearl-embellished gown designed by Prabal Gurung. Her outfit was inspired by supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look.
Last year, Bhatt acted in a brief role in the period film “RRR,” which was nominated at the Golden Globes 2023 for best picture, non-English language. The film made history by winning the Academy Awards for the best original song, motion picture category. Bhatt also starred as a victim of domestic abuse in the Netflix black comedy Darlings. The film was also her debut production venture under her company Eternal Sunshine Productions.
As an entrepreneur, Alia launched her own sustainable maternity and children’s clothing line named Ed-a-Mamma. She is also an investor in the Nykaa beauty company.
The Bollywood star will appear alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan in Netflix’s spy thriller “Heart of Stone,” marking her first American film release. The movie is slated to premiere on the streaming platform on August 11.
