DUBAI – An array of panellists today explored how female entrepreneurs play a substantial role in the United Arab Emirates’ flourishing creative sector, at Her Business Story: The Creative Industry & Female Entrepreneurial Empowerment event at the Women’s Pavilion.
Women have been aided by a robust policy environment and expanding opportunities in the Emirates’ creative industries, to become vital contributors to the sector, Luma Jasim Bourisly, Strategic Consultant at Dubai Culture and Arts Authority said during the Government Policy to Link Female Entrepreneurship to the Creative Industries panel discussion.
Bourisly continued: “The UAE government not only plays a significant role empowering women through funding, micro-funds and grants, but also through connecting major players in the private sector with the best female talent. This support from the government also reduces recruitment costs to businesses ensuring greater sustainability, as well as aiding the UAE in retaining and attracting female talent from all around the world.”
The founder of Mamalu Kitchen in Dubai, Lama Jamal Houssami, highlighted the vibrant and supportive community available to female entrepreneurs all across the UAE, adding that it would be “a waste” to not make the most out of the opportunities that exist.
The panel was held as part of the Her Business Story series at the Women’s Pavilion, which explores the journey of female entrepreneurial empowerment from across the world. Through photography, paintings and sculpture, the series also aims to outline the rise of those women who successfully overcame socio-cultural norms.
