WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to share videos in HD. A week ago, the instant messaging platform introduced a new feature that lets users send images to others in high resolution and that it would expand the feature to videos as well.
The Meta-owned platform recently confirmed to TechCrunch that the ability to send and receive videos in HD is currently rolling out to users on both Android and iOS.
Similar to how you send images in high-definition, the HD video feature can toggled on when you about to share the video with others. Until now, videos on the platform limited to 480p, but now users can enable the 720p option.
Similar to text messages, calls and images, videos protected by WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption. If someone sends a video in HD, you can see it by looking at the small ‘HD’ badge on the bottom left of the message thumbnail
WhatsApp says the ability to share videos in HD is rolling out to all users and in case it is not available on your device, it should be in the next few days.
