The Ministry of Health yesterday revealed details on the people who had died due to COVID-19 following the third wave in Sri Lanka.
Director of the Family Health Bureau Dr. Chithramalee de Silva gave the information while addressing a media briefing held yesterday.
She said 60 pregnant women and 89 children under the age of 18 had died during the third wave of the coronavirus in Sri Lanka.
“Pregnant women can now obtain the booster vaccine for COVID-19. Anyone who had obtained either the Sinopharm or any other COVID vaccine prior to getting pregnant can obtain the Pfizer vaccine as the booster shot during their pregnancy,” she explained.
Dr. Chithramalee de Silva said this will ensure the protection of pregnant women against the virus.
