State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara responded to the recent statement made by Minister Namal Rajapaksa asking Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) leave the government if required.
Jaysekara said this at the Hambantota District Convention of the SLFP which was held at the Angunakolapelessa Town Hall yesterday (15) under the patronage of party Chairman, former President Maithripala Sirisena.
“These days we are being asked to leave the government. But Mahinda Rajapaksa does not say that. In an interview with a Newspaper, he said that the Lanka Sama Samaja Party and the Communist party were with me in my government. They also had opposing views, but didn’t have issue like now” he said addressing the gathering.
“But how do those who look forward to becoming future kings talk? I saw minster Namal Rajapaksa talking recently asking the SLFP to leave the government without crying here and there. If they are talking to us like that now, let’s see how they can become kings in the future” He went on to say.
Meanwhile, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera also addressed the gathering.
“We can’t keep our mouths shut. People’s issues have to be discussed within the cabinet as well as outside. When we start talking about these, political idiots have now started to talk” he said.
