Sri Lanka off-spinner Dilruwan Perera has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket.
In a letter addressed to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Perera said he believes the time is right now for him to retire from his international cricket journey.
He added that, however, he will continue playing domestic cricket for a while longer.
“Sri Lanka Cricket has been a source of great inspiration and support throughout my time and I remain grateful to you, the executive committee, and my coaches past and present,’ Dilruwan Perera said.
The 39-year-old last played for Sri Lanka in January 2021 against England in Galle.
In December 2017, Dilruwan became the fastest Sri Lankan and seventh overall to take 100 Test wickets or more.
He achieved the feat in his 25th game, two fewer than the great Muttiah Muralitharan, who had held the record.
