Expo 2020’s Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre will reverberate to the resonant chords of award-winning composer and jazz pianist Tarek Yamani, supported by bassist, Eli Afif, and percussionist, Khaled Yassine, on Monday (14 March).
Born and raised in Beirut, Yamani taught himself how to play jazz at the age of 19 and has gone on to be recognised worldwide for his musical prowess and provocative improvisation skills.
Concert-goers can look forward to the intrepid artist’s unique take on jazz with a signature Arabic spin that has been described as “world-jazz heard nowhere else” and “luminous music anchored in jazz harmony and Arab traditions”.
Since moving to New York in 2011, Yamani has played as a leader or sideman in many of the city’s most renowned jazz clubs and performed in some of the most prestigious venues across the world, including the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, Basílica de la Mercè Barcelona and the United Nations Assembly Hall in New York.
Tarek Yamani Trio will perform at Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre on 14 March from 1900 GST. Entry is free for all Expo 2020 Dubai ticket holders, but concert-goers are advised to arrive early.
