During Prince Harry’s court case against Mirror Group Newspapers, it revealed that his court witness statement contradicted his book regarding a disagreement he had with his brother, Prince William, over Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell.
The court case involved allegations of phone hacking. Also, including a story published in The People in 2003.
Prince Harry’s account of the incident seemed to fall apart under cross-examination.
He mentioned that the article disclosed details about a private disagreement between him. And his brother concerning a proposed meeting with Paul Burrell, their late mother’s trusted confidant.
Prince Harry expressed that such articles create a sense of distrust between brothers.
The lawyer representing the Mirror Group pointed out that Prince Harry’s statement contradicted his own memoir, titled “Spare.”
In the memoir, Prince Harry criticized Paul Burrell for writing a tell-all book that he believed was a self-justifying and self-centered portrayal of events.
Prince Harry described Burrell as someone his mother trusted implicitly, but he felt that Burrell was exploiting her disappearance for financial gain.
Prince Harry expressed his anger and desire to confront Burrell, even considering flying back home. But his father and brother talked him out of it during separate phone calls.
