JAKARTA (INDONESIA) – Indonesian authorities on Wednesday temporarily stopped a search by divers to locate the cockpit voice recorder of the Sriwijaya Air jet which crashed into the Java Sea with 62 people on board on Saturday.
Officials said the search was temporarily halted because of bad weather in the Java Sea with waves rising to a height of 2.5 metres.
Earlier on Wednesday, divers were able to retrieve more debris of the aircraft and a damaged ID card of one of the victims, Navy official Abdul Rasyid told reporters on board the vessel Rigel.
On Tuesday, divers were successful in recovering the flight data recorder from the seabed. They also found the beacon attached to the cockpit voice recorder.
