ALMATY (KAZAKHSTAN) – Kazakhstan healthcare minister Alexei Tsoy announced that the country plans to vaccinate about 6 million people against the coronavirus this year.
Vaccinations will commence on Feb.1, with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. Medical workers will be the first in line to receive the shot, he told a government meeting. Kazakhstan also aims to produce Sputnik V at home.
Kazakhstan has confirmed 217,000 COVID cases and pneumonia probably caused by the virus, with 2,965 deaths.
