Indian Super League(ISL), 2022-23, will kick off on October 7th, 2022, when last season’s runners-up Kerala Blasters host East Bengal FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.
Kolkata giants East Bengal will be up against Kerala Blasters in the inaugural match of the ISL 2022-23 season. The opening match is scheduled to be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. After a gap of two seasons, ISL is will be back this time with its original home-away format. Apart from re-introducing the home-away design, eliminators will also take place for the first time this season.
The season will also be unique as fans will be welcomed back to the stadiums after two seasons. Most fixtures have been scheduled on weekends to encourage more fans to attend and watch their teams in action.
This season onwards, a new playoff format has also been introduced in the league, adding two additional matches into the calendar.
The top two teams at the end of the league stage will automatically qualify for the semi-finals. Teams between 3rd and 6th will feature in a single-leg playoff to determine the other two semi-finalists.
ISL matches will be televised in the 2022-23 season on Star Sports Network in India. The games can also be streamed live on Disney+Hotstar.
