Lionel Messi was in a spot of bother at the Beijing Airport and ended up unintentionally trolling the border guards.
Argentina’s captain Messi detained at Beijing Airport on June 10 ahead of the World Champions’ international friendly match against Australia at the Workers Stadium in the Chinese capital.
When Messi arrived in China to lead his country in the big clash, he stopped at the airport by the Chinese Border Police.
According to reports, Messi’s visa has delayed because he was traveling with his Spanish passport rather than his Argentinian passport. They did not have a Chinese visa. After about 30 minutes, the situation has resolved, and Messi exited the airport.
During the whole episode, it is said that Messi believed he could travel to Taiwan on his Spanish passport, meaning that it also valid for entering China.
He quoted as saying to the border officials:
“Is Taiwan not China?”
