Azerbaijan has decided to discontinue the issuance of visas to Iranian citizens at its international airports.
According to reports from local media citing the Iranian embassy in Baku.
The embassy advised Iranian citizens wishing to travel to Azerbaijan to obtain visas in advance through online channels or at the Consulate General in Tabriz.
Furthermore, the embassy emphasized that the land border between Iran and Azerbaijan has remained closed since 2020.
Additionally, it previously reported that Iran’s cultural representation in Baku had closed.
Earlier this year, tensions escalated between the two countries when Baku declared four employees of the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan as personae non grata, leading to their expulsion from the country.
In response, Tehran reciprocated by declaring four Azerbaijani diplomats as personae non grata in early May.
Furthermore, in June, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued an advisory urging its citizens to refrain from visiting Iran.
