On Sunday, BigHit Music, the management agency for BTS, made an announcement regarding upcoming mandatory military duty of its member Suga , stating that he will commence his service on September 22. The agency also clarified that they will not hold any official events on the day Suga starts his service or when he enters the training camp.
In a statement shared on the fan community online platform Weverse, BigHit Music urged fans to refrain from visiting Suga at his workplace during his service period and encouraged them to convey their warm regards and support in their hearts.
Suga, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, will become the third member of the South Korean septet to commence his military service, following Jin and j-hope.
Additionally, the management agency called on fans to be vigilant against unauthorized tours or package products that illegitimately use the artist’s intellectual property (IP). They assured that the company would take appropriate measures against any commercial activities that infringe on the artist’s IP rights.
BigHit Music also expressed gratitude for the ongoing love and support for Suga and pledged to provide him with the necessary support during his service period.
In South Korea, all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 are obligated to serve in the military for approximately two years. BTS had allowed all its members to postpone their military service until they each reached the age of 30, and Suga reached this milestone on March 9.
BTS, consisting of RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, aspires to reunite as a group around 2025 following the completion of their service commitments.
